DETROIT -- Robert Eenhoorn hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the
15th inning to score Tony Phillips and give the Anaheim Angels a
much-needed victory, 5-4 over the Detroit Tigers. Shigetoshi
Hasegawa (3-6) completed a stellar effort by the Anaheim bullpen
by striking out a career-high eight in four innings. Five
relievers kept the Tigers off the board over the final nine
innings. Glenn Dishman (1-2) allowed one run in three innings
with three strikeouts and took the loss. The teams combined for
33 strikeouts, including 17 by the Angels. Tony Clark and Travis
Fryman homered for Detroit.
